Multibeam survey

Multi-beam surveys are used to gather detailed information about the features on the seabed by measuring multiple depths from a single transducer array at high resolution. The result is a highly accurate 3D picture of the sea floor.

The need for multi-beam

It has many added advantages over the single beam surveys. It provides higher resolution data as per the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) standards and is more time efficient, has less errors and captures additional data such as the seabed texture and type.

The Teledyne Odom Hydrographic MB2 used by Water Solutions has its own unique features such as real time roll stabilization, which minimizes the effect on the accuracy of the data caused by the waves hitting the vessel. There is an additional Applanix POSMV positioning system to maintain high level positioning accuracy under the most demanding conditions.

Our Multibeam can measure to a depth of 200m with a swath of up to 140°

Application of Multibeam

Some of the applications of Multibeam surveys are:

Teledyne ODOM MB2

The ODOM MB2 Multibeam Echosounder is developed for fast mobilisation on smaller vessels and is optimized for shallow water surveying. When it comes to collecting This high resolution system is easy to deploy and mobilize to all parts of Maldives.

Teledyne Seabat T50-R

The SeaBat T50-R is the latest addition to the world-leading SeaBat T-series platform. The extremely compact and flexible rack-mounted sonar system with a built-in INS allows for fast mobilization, minimal interfacing and extremely low space requirements.​ ​The SeaBat T50-R is fully frequency agile from 190 to 420 kHz, allowing for improved swath performance and reduced survey time under challenging acoustic conditions.

Survey Vessel RV Odisea

RV Odisea is a second of its kind research vessel in the Maldives owned and operated by Water Solutions Pvt Ltd. Odisea is designed for deep and shallow water surveys and comes with modern top of the class equipment including the Teledyne T50-r for bathymetry and iXblue echoes 10000 for seismic data collection. Odisea comes with major upgrades including an enclosed and spacious working space for surveyors and clients.


Survey Vessel WS Moresby

WS Moresby is a custom designed survey vessel that has ample deck and cabin space for survey operations. It comes with sufficient storage space and mounting points installed for a full MBES system. The draft of this vessel is only 0.4m, which makes her perfect for coastal surveys. WS Moresby can operate in conditions of up to 2m of waves and can survey up to 200m depth.

The vessel is equipped with twin Yamaha outboard engines and is capable of traveling to anywhere in Maldives. The vessel can be mobilized within 2 to 3 hours to any site.
